FREE KITE FLYING!

• Wishes for the Sky is a large-scale multidisciplinary public art event celebrating Earth Day.
• Wishes for the Sky consists of wish-writing and kite-flying to create a large mobile in the sky; a bamboo wind chimes sculpture called House to Touch the Wind; a sound installation called Promises to the Earth; and a Wishmaking Pavillion. The experience is interactive and relies on attendees to make the collaborative work of art.
• Wishes for the Sky is a day of wishing, a work of public art, and an expression of environmental sustainability inspired by ancient Chinese traditions of flying wishes on kites.
• Bring a windchime. Please don’t bring your own kite.
• Supported by more than 20 organizations, this nature-inspired day of wishing was attended by 1800 people in 2007, its inaugural year.
• Even with 1800 attendees we produced only 5 pounds of trash--a remarkable feat according to Eureka Recycling we set a new standard for sustainable event production.
• Each year the first wish is given to Earth Day's firstborn in St. Paul. The first wish for Earth Day 2007 was made by Senait Hadera for her baby son Remon:
