You’ve seen him walking down the streets of Uptown, riding the bus, or lurking in Downtown. Now see Minneapolis Art icon Scott Seekins and his own works of art at Familia this Thursday @ 7PM. Should be a good one so come show your support. If his art is anything like the himself (Who’s life seems to be one big work of art itself), it should be interesting. And if you have absolutely no idea who this guy is (slippin), then check out this Mpls.St.Paul Magazine article that does a good job summarizing this mysterious local figure.
(Click on post to see other posters) Day of Familia … more like Weekend of Familia. To celebrate Familia Skateshop’s 5th Anniversary, they’re having a board release party (honoring the skate-greats of the Twin Cities), an art show (featuring art by Todd Bratrud and pros Clint Peterson, Kenny Anderson), and a contest (at Soundset!!) all on Memorial day weekend. It’s gonna be a big one this year so show these guys some love and come to at least one of these events, if not, all three. Visit Familia Skateshop for more info.

The WACTAC blog has been lacking some extreme sports posts as of late so I’m here to fix that. Hopefully these clips are still artsy enough for this blog. The guys from éS shoes in Cyprus (which sounds really nice this time of year): Via Already Been Done. I highly recommend checking out this video called ‘Boyish’. A very well made video by Jackson Casey with some excellent skating. Promo here: Buy a copy here. This video looks insane: I’m not even a huge snowboarding fan, but I can’t wait for that to come out. Set for release at September [...]

On October 14, 2010 WACTAC put on the annual “Student Open House: Street Level” at the Walker Art Center. There, we met famed street artist, Swoon, who is known for creating wheatpaste prints and paper-cut figures that have been seen all around the country. We got to sit down with her and ask her about what her Top 5 lessons learned from working outside of school were. Edited by Henry Willette, 2010 WACTAC member
